YS Bharathi Article on YS Jagan arrest on completion of 55 weeks

YS Jagan was arrested exactly 55 weeks ago and that too on a Sunday. When I go to church on Sundays, it pains me immensely to think of all this and that God had allowed this to happen. At the same time, I also look forward with a lot of earnestness to going to church with Jagan and all the other family members on his release from prison. While praying a few days ago, in my mind I likened our current difficulties to dark clouds hovering overhead which would soon be dispelled. I felt that no matter how much we were encircled by troubles, God's Grace would defend us with equal force from every difficulty and impediment in our path.

If Jagan could fight for the cause of the people despite being jailed, it can only be attributed to God's Grace! If he could stand committed to his word to the people and could remain unfazed by all the sorrows that came his way and all the pressure exerted on him, it is only on account of God's Grace! If people still stand unconditionally by Jagan more than a year after he has been jailed, it is only due to God's Grace! Similarly, it is only because of God's Grace that people's love and respect for Jagan continues to grow on an unprecedented scale!

If Sharmila has covered more than 2400 km up until now, determined to convey her brother's message to the masses, in wilting heat and torrential rain, this can only be ascribed to God's Grace!

If my mother-in-law, who had never stepped out of her house ever in her life, was compelled to take the reins of the YSR Congress Party into her hands and if she is able to run the party a thousand times better than Chandrababu Naidu or Kiran Kumar Reddy are running theirs, it is only on account of God's Grace!

If my children and I could survive for more than a year while Jagan was in jail, I can only attribute this to the Grace of God Almighty!

In a span of four years, having lost my father-in-law and seen Jagan imprisoned, I can only recall what Jagan once told me-it's not how long you live, but how you live your life that counts! I feel that it's always better to sit at home quietly than to accumulate sins the way the Congress leaders, Chandrababu Naidu and CBI officers have been doing-by heaping injustices on others and trying to torment them. They have kept my husband away from me for 385 days; they deprived my children of their father's love during this period; aren't they responsible for wrenching Jagan away from his mother? We should try and help others if we can, and not cause them harm.

However, Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chandrababu Naidu and the CBI cannot do good to others because they live for their own selfish ends. No wonder, Andhra Pradesh and the country at large are in such a mess-women feel defenceless and insecure, the poor suffer from neglect, the elderly feel forsaken and helpless, students have no assistance and farmers suffer as never before with no government support of any kind.

Dr. YSR dedicated his entire life to serving the people of the state and for strengthening his party. If they can harass Dr. YSR's family in this manner, it would be naive to think that they can be of any help to the common, suffering individual.

Will the people ever trust the Congress and TDP whose collusion was aimed only at keeping a third party out of the political scene and with no other political agenda of their own? And can people forget the fact that they came together the same year that Dr. YSR passed away in tragic circumstances and willfully hiked power tariffs, fertilizer rates and the prices of essential commodities, burdening them further? Will the suffering masses gloss over the fact that they threw every scheme from Dr. YSR's welfare-driven government out of the window without sparing a thought for the common man?

agan has stood and continues to stand by the people of the state to fulfill his commitment and to keep the word he had given to them-to champion their cause and fight tirelessly for them. No wonder, the people of this state repose their faith in Jagan! He did not take the easy path and harboured no selfish objectives. He chose the path of righteousness, thorny as it may have been!

People continue to trust Jagan in spite of the slanderous campaign that the TDP has launched against him about his life in jail, knowing full well that he is allowed to meet only seven visitors per week including his wife. It is for all these reasons that the people of this state repose their faith in Jagan. No wonder they trust him!
